Alex Henrikson, NP
Alex Henrikson, APRN, grew up in rural Northern California, where his early experiences shaped his appreciation for close-knit communities and the importance of accessible, compassionate healthcare. He initially attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he studied physics, before moving to Reno and pursuing a career in nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and began his nursing career caring for adult patients.
Alex’s passion for working with children led him to transition to pediatric nursing, where he spent five years working on a pediatric inpatient unit. During this time, he developed a strong interest in caring for children and supporting their families through both routine and complex medical needs. He went on to earn his Master of Science in Nursing as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nevada, Reno.
As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Alex is passionate about providing thoughtful, compassionate, and family-centered care to children throughout the Reno, Sparks, and surrounding rural communities. He values building meaningful relationships with patients and families and believes in partnering with them to help children achieve their best possible health and well-being. His background in both inpatient nursing and advanced pediatric practice provides him with a broad perspective on caring for children across a variety of healthcare needs.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys cooking and baking and is well known among family and friends for his homemade sweet creations. He also enjoys hiking in the mountains around Reno and Lake Tahoe, as well as spending quality time with family and friends. His connection to the Northern Nevada community extends beyond his professional life, and he is proud to care for the children and families who call the region home.
